Black Friday 2018

Done with the turkey and ready for the stouts! Check out what’s going on in the Kansas City Beer scene for this year’s Black Friday. (Most links are Facebook event pages)

9AM

  • New Axiom Brewing, Lee’s Summit—Tezcatlipoca Beer Release, ticketed event. The beer is derived from a recipe in the cookbook of one of their brewer’s grandmothers – a sweet and spicy Mexican hot chocolate drink. Flavors of cinnamon, chilis, vanilla, and chocolate flow through the thick stout. Barrel aged version was aged in a Restless Spirits whiskey barrel. Only available in 4-packs.

10AM

  • Fringe Beerworks, Lee’s Summit—Bourbon County and Donuts, now a yearly tradition, join other stout enthusiast and munch on some donuts to go with your Bourbon County.

11AM

  • Colony KC, North Kansas City—Raised by TV Cinnamon Toast Crunch Double Milk Stout beer release, back by popular demand, the beer’s ABV has been upped to 8.5%.
  • Cinder Block, North Kansas City—Black Squirrel Draft & Bottle Release and special breakfast menu all day. Skip that Chicago Bourbon Stout and check out a popular, local one! Black Squirrel is a Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout and will go well with the pancakes they’re serving with house made Black Squirrel syrup.
  • Flying Saucer, Power & Light—Doorbuster Scavenger Hunt
  • International Tap House, Crossroads KC—Winter Beer Release, 2017 & 2018 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout and Bramble. Donate canned food for a chance to win a surprise gift.
  • Barley’s Kitchen & Tap, Shawnee—Goose Island Bourbon County Stout release and they’ll have 6 bottles each of Bourbon County Bramble Rye, Orange Midnight, Vanilla, and Wheatwine. These are extremely rare beers! $40 per bottle and they’ll do a raffle for anyone who would like the opportunity to buy one.
  • Limitless Brewing, Lenexa—Grand Opening Weekend for this Lenexa brewery. We’ve all been anxiously awaiting their opening so check them out!
  • Harry’s Tavern, Kansas City South—Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout release and huge stout tap takeover with 25-30 handles for massive imperial, barrel aged, and heavy stouts they’ve been saving all year.
  • Wakarusa Brewing, Eudora—First Anniversary Celebration with special tappings of NEIPA, Black IPA, and Raspberry Mead; live music from Wakarusa River Band; and dinner from Barbwire Barbecue.

12pm

  • Callsign Brewing, North Kansas City—Rotating beer specials all day, free massages from Warrior Bodywork and Massage, Mug Club release, and gift card release.
  • Big Rip Brewing, North Kansas City—$3 Stouts all day and a special Randall where they run Pennywise (sweet tater ale) through surprise ingredient.
  • Grains & Taps, Lee’s Summit—Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout tapping.
  • East Forty Brewing, Blue Springs—New hours and happy hour pricing from noon to 5pm. $4 house beers, $7 for a beer and a shot, and $2 off pizza and spin-dip.
  • Crane Brewing, Raytown—Special Tappings, new merchandise, discounts, and gift packs, and gift card mystery surprise where when you buy at least $25 in gift cards, you get an additional gift card from $5-$100.

2pm

  • Border Brewing, Crossroads KC—Special tappings and live music from Mark Lowrey & Patrick Woolam. They may be opening earlier for the tappings and they’ll be offering holiday gift packages.

4pm

  • BKS Artisan Ales, Brookside KC—3 new beers on tap and in cans including Holstein Milk Stout Chocolate Birthday Cake with Oddly Correct Guatemala Finca La Colmenita Coffee, Pine Tree IPA featuring Simcoe Hops, and their collaboration with Ballast Point, Denim Vest IPA featuring Cashmere and Citra hops. Open until 8pm.
  • Flying Horse Taproom, Brookside KC—Martin City Brewing Tap Takeover including Dozer Coconut Imperial, Shunned House Brett IPA, Radical Candor DIPA, Hardway IPA, and Belgian Abbey Ale.
  • Brookside Wine & Spirits, Brookside KC—Martin City Brewing free samples and discounted Martin City 6-packs.
