Callsign New Location

Callsign Brewing has already outgrown their current location since setting up in North Kansas City in 2018, and will be upgrading by relocating just a few blocks west.  Callsign owner, Steve Sirois knew he wanted to stay in North Kansas City but wanted to be able to reach more people and help the community. The new building is being renovated (with help from volunteers and professionals) and will be seven times as large as their current Gentry Street location.

Callsign Brewing will be relocating to 1340 Burlington, North Kansas City. The brewery is hoping to be open and ready for new and old customers no later than November 2021. The 23,000 s.f. building will house a large taproom, the brewery, a canning line, a second bar, spacious front patio, an event space, and in-house food options (BBQ & pizza). They have additional ideas for the space.

It’s not just more space they need. The brewery’s system will be upgraded to a 20-bbl system to accommodate the increase in demand. Callsign head brewer, Corey Zschoche, is looking forward to brewing on the new system. “I’m definitely excited to be brewing on the new system but just as much in the new location with so much more visibility and the ability to serve many more patrons,” Zschoche said. Zschoche is originally from the area but moved to Oregon to get a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science with an Option in Fermentation from Oregon State.  He recently moved back to our area after spending some time in Oregon as head brewer for Klamath Basin Brewing, America’s first geothermally powered brewery.

On Saturday, August 28, 2021, Callsign Brewing poured their concrete bar tops. It was particularly special because of what went beneath the concrete. Many people knew and loved brewer Rodney Beagle and with his passing, he left a very big void in the beer community and Kansas City. Callsign owner, Steve Sirois, made sure he’d forever be a part of North Kansas City, and the general Kansas City beer community; a 3Halves sticker and Beagle Homebrewery button were placed before the concrete was poured onto the counter top.

Personal note: Rodney was a very good friend of mine and I love and miss him very much. I don’t talk about him much through KansasCityBeer.com but those who know me know what he meant to me.
