If you’re involved in the Kansas City beer community, then most likely, you’ve met Michael Wells. Wells is an award-winning homebrewer who is also a Lenexa firefighter and, most importantly, a family-man with a wife and three children. He has recently been diagnosed with cancer and a lot of people and places want to help out. Tuesday, December 18
- 4pm-9pm – Get Wells: The Hair Edition at Crane Brewing, 6515 Railroad St, Raytown, MO 64133. Promises were made and now they’re being kept. Chris Meyers of Crane Brewing will be cutting his hair as well as the Juice Box Boyz. Taylor Jones and Alex Workman will be shaving their long beards, too.
Past Events
Thursday, November 29
- 4pm-9pm –Fundraiser for Michael Wells at Big Rip Brewing, 216 E 9th Ave, North Kansas City, MO 64116. Big Rip Brewing and Hawg Jaw BBQ are hosting a Board Game Night/Happy Hour. Half the drink sales and a portion of the food sales will go to Michael Wells. Hawg Jaw will supplying some appetizers in the taproom 4pm-7pm.
- 6:30pm – Get Wells Live Charity Podcast with KC Social, Boards and Bottles, and Juice Box Boyz at Apex Aleworks, 4356 Noland Road, Independence, MO 64055. A live podcast with three local beer podcasts that will raise money for Michael Wells. They’ll be doing special things during the podcast if they get to certain fundraising points.
Friday, November 30
- 9am-5pm – Shave the Date! at City of Lenexa Fire Department, 9620 Pflumm Rd, Lenexa, KS 66215. Come shave your head! You can also place bids on the heads of friends, family, and coworkers to make them shave. All proceeds go to Michael Wells.
Saturday, December 01
- 12pm – Support a Local Firefighter Blind Draw Benefit at Side Pockets, 13320 W 87th St Pkwy, Lenexa, KS 66215. Benefit pool tourney with proceeds going to Michael. If you can’t attend but still want to donate, you can PayPal to Michael Liberty at libertybull1324@icloud.com.
- 2:30pm-3:30pm – Raffle for Michael Wells at Grain to Glass, 1611 Swift Ave, North Kansas City, MO 64116. Buy tickets for a raffle for a shiny 7 gallon SS Conical Fermenter donated by Steve and Erica Williams. All proceeds from the raffle and part of the proceeds from having a pint of Piney River’s Old Tom Porter will got to Michael Wells’ fund.
Saturday, December 08
- 6pm-11pm – Choose the Wrench in Support of Michael Wells at St. Therese Parish Community, 7207 NW Hwy 9, Kansas City, MO 64152. Adult only event with local brews, snacks, auctions, and dancing to live music – all in support of Michael Wells. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by clicking here.
